It's been so long...

Things have been pretty crazy for us. DH is still looking at changing jobs and it is closer to becoming a reality. He hurt his back, so right now, that is the only thing that may slow it down.
Princess has been having sleep issues lately. And I know it is partly my fault. Ever since she got sick a while back, I have been bringing her into our bad for her naps and we nap together. She sleeps longer there. And I've needed the sleep. Now of course, as daycare looms, I have to get her into the habit of sleeping in her bed again for naps. (she sleeps there at night) She also went through a few weeks of waking up during the night. Several times. It was definitely a rough time. Things are s.l.o.w.l.y. getting better.
On another note, she's almost completely off any jar food. I hated giving it to her because I didn't make it. I did give her some of the "la mere poule" food, which I feel is better than the jar. But even that now, she just wants to eat what we eat. So I plan our meals around her now. I make sure that there are things she eats. And to boot - she feeds herself now. It's incredible. Things are going so fast. Can't wait to do it all again :)

It's been a while!!!

Where do I begin? Our visitors have been gone for 2 weeks now and Princess is getting back into her schedule. Tooth 6 and 7 have come in and she is working on tooth #8. I hope she gets a little break after this one. This tooth would be bottom right but the next one after the right middle tooth...if that makes any sense at all LOL.
DH will be changing jobs, if all goes well. He has an interview at the end of the month and then it shouldn't be long after that to hear if he got in or not. The bummer thing about this job, is that he will be gone for 3 1/2 months on training. ARGH!!! I'm sure we will be OK.
Princess is a master at crawling and pulling herself up to stand. She moves like the speed of light. And is so curious about everything. It's wonderful but crazy busy at the same time.

Wow is all I can say!!

Princess G decided to start crawling today. It was beautiful. She's done it a few times. She doesn't go crazy, she's still a little unsure, but she's learning quickly and getting around more. I couldn't help but tear up, she's growing at warp speed. But I am happy to see all these changes. She's also standing up much better. She still needs to hold on to things, but she is standing up and bouncing with no fear. T day is coming, when I am going to be in big time TROUBLE - cuz she is not going to walk, she's just gonna start running!!!
I better start getting into shape a little more huh!

Crazy crazy week

So, all we had to really do this week was BD. Sounds easy enough...but yet, we still missed some days in there.
Last night was a wipe. There is some family issues going on and we are acting as a safe zone, so we have visitors, which is fine. Then last night, Princess had a low grade fever. She was really tired and fell asleep with her bottle. So I put her down and attempted to give her some tempra to relieve the fever, but she HATES it. So she gagged and then proceeded to throw up. She was laying down, so I had to grab her and sit her up while she puked some more. It went everywhere. The scary thing is that she was not breathing. So we helped her to clear out her mouth and nose, but she was so scared, that she was crying/wimpering. It was so scary for us too. The terrified look in her eye made it easy to decide that she would sleep on me half sitting up. She did for a few hours at first. Then she woke up, like ready to start the day, at 1:20am. DH went to sleep downstairs and she and I played and eventually fell asleep in our bed. She was still feverish this morning and clingy. She ate no prob, which means she is on the mend. She and I layed down in our bed again, and we slept for a good 3 hours. She woke up to her old self. She's still not eating solids, but she's eating her formula. And the fever is gone. I know she's working on 2 top teeth (front right and next right) which will make it tooth 6 and 7.
So needless to say, last night was definitely out of the question. So since yesterday was "supposed" to be my O day, I doubt very much that we caught the eggie. And that's OK. On to the next cycle.

Busy BD week!

I'm not 100% sure where I am in my cycle this month. Reason for this is that I started bleeding on July 30. But, it was only minor bleeding on the 30th and 31st. Aug 1 was the first FULL flow day for me, so I am counting that as my CD1, which means that my last AF would have been a 34 day cycle. I'm anywhere between 33 and 35 days. With all of this, DH and I have decided to BD every day. Just in case. I don't think I will O until around Aug 20/21, but my CM was EW this afternoon. So I'm glad we are doing things this way. Just in case ;)

Princess G is making a move

So our lil princess is not crawling quite yet, but I think it will happen sooner than later. She gets where she needs to go by scooting on her belly, and she's quick!! She's up on all 4s now, rocking. She will bring one knee up, but then plop down on her belly and scoot. She's keeping me on my toes already.
Today, she took her first steps!! Well, not walking on her own but it's big for me! She's been standing up with our assistance for the last 2-3 months. She's able to pull herself up in her crib to stand but she hasn't been able to move her feet to get them closer together. Tonight, while holding her hands as she stood on the floor, she put one foot in front of the other and "walked" to Daddy. It was awesome!! She's just growing like a weed!!!

Here we go again...

So, DH and I have decided to start this crazy ride again. I'm on CD 7 and we are not going to prevent this month. We aren't going to REALLY try this month either. Sept will be the start of the monitoring. And, by monitoring, I mean just checking my CM and days. I have never temped before or used OPKs. We'll see how this goes. My OBGYN told us to come and see him if we aren't preggers after 4 months of trying and he will send me straight away to the RE.
So, Aug is month 1.
There's so much going on with us and so many potential changes on the horizon that we aren't going to really think about my job. If this works first shot, which I'm not conviced it will, but if it did, I would be going back to work about 3 months pregnant.

On another note, Princess G has been getting herself up on all fours these days. She's still not crawling but it's close. I'm actually OK with her not crawling just yet lol. She's still mobile, she can get around quite well, but not enough that I stress about where she is. If that makes any sense lol.

It's the Williamstown Fair this weekend, longest running country fair in Canada (197th year this year), and it's gonna be fun. I can't wait for my little miss to see the animals up close.

8 months old tomorrow

I know I must sound like a broken record, but I can't believe how fast this is going.
Princess G is doing great. She's been fussy for the last week and a half, almost 2 weeks. 2 teeth have broken through, so she is now up to 5 teeth and she is working on 2 more.
She isn't crawling yet but she is definitely close.
Not too much else going on, which is why I haven't posted. We went away last weekend, Princess G's first sleep away and it went perfectly. She was great and it was nice to be in new scenery. We were in the Eastern Townships which is just beautiful country. I know, we live in the country wouldn't we be getting enough?! But it's not the same lol. DH has fun, he went fishing and 4-wheeling. So not much going on.

Little update on She-Hulk

My lil princess is now a She-Hulk as DH likes to call her. Why would he call her that? Because she is learning to use her voice in different ways and one of them is to open her mouth and kinda growl. It's too funny. And the face she makes, is hysterical.

She's starting to eat a little better. She's been trying all kinds of things. She's not a fan of too many fruits. I've given her fresh banana, mango and avacado. Nothing really grabs her. She's also eating dry toast. I'm still a little nervous that she will take a big bite with her 3 bottom teeth and then choke, but I keep a close eye on her. She's also tried Mommy's homemade chicken puree, but she's not getting into it yet. I'll just keep trying. I also picked up some yogurt and cottage cheese but haven't tried them yet. I wanted to pick up something called Yo Baby yogurt but couldn't find it anywhere. I will keep on the lookout. If you know where I can find it, please let me know.

It's been hot lately and Princess G's sleep was a little disrupted but she's hopefully getting back on track. Let's hope so :)

CD 34 and what to do about my weight

So I am on CD 34 and I started having a little spotting late last night and then again today. Not enough for anything but I hope that this is a sign that AF is on her way as she is usually here right after CD 35. Now I've also realized that I seem to have bleeding usually after DH and I BD, well a few days after, like 2 or 3. I'm wondering if it is just coincidence or not.
I guess I will see in the next few days.

My weight is stuck and so am I. I try to follow my WW rules but I just can't seem to be disciplined enough. I'm wondering if I have to get my butt back to meetings.
OK, I think the first step is to get some regular exercise going, 3-4 times per week. And then if there is no progress, then I will join back up.

That's what I'll do.

Now, to just make the time to exercise...

Don't know what's going on

So it's looking like we will begin working on Baby #2 by around September. If all goes well.
What I mean by that, is my cycles just keep getting weirder and weirder. Monday was CD23 for me and I was spotting. Not enough that I had to put something, but enough that it made me wonder WTH is going on. It lingered until yesterday. I've had some cramping to go along with it. I'm really freaked out. I had really hoped that working on baby #2 would be on my terms. I thought for sure that the PCOS wouldn't kick my butt for at least a little bit. But, I am not so lucky. I don't know why I would have mid month bleeding, it's never really happened to me before.
So frustrating.
Makes me wonder if we should start trying now so that we will go and see the RE by Oct/Nov.
I really am at a loss of what to do.

Teeth, Food and Fun

Finally, after what seems like forever, another bottom tooth has broken through. Princess G was so fussy lately but the tooth broke through. Yay. But there is a downside...when I look at her gums, I see a lot of white. Like a whole lot of white. So she will getting a few more sooner rather than later. But that's fine :) Her top teeth are still sitting, waiting to break through. Not sure what they are waiting for but I'm hoping soon.

As for food, princess doesn't like fruits. At all. She likes her veggies though. Which is great, because I am the same way. Not a fruit fan. I'll eat them, but I would take fresh veggies anytime. And it's amazing to see her actually eating, like chewing! time flies.

Lots of fun these days! We had a great weekend! Saturday was Upper Canada Village/Medieval Festival. It was so great! It was our first family outing, no in-laws, just the three of us. It was awesome. Princess G did a great job - didn't fuss at all lol. And the Sunday, we had a BBQ with both of our families for birthdays. Another great day outside. So glad the nice weather is here. That being said, this weekend is supposed to be rainy. That's OK, perfect excuse to stay put and quiet.

Latest update from us

So, the princess had her 6 month shots yesterday and her weigh-in. The shots went well. She cried a little and wasn't too fussy. Her weight is 19lbs 9.5oz and she measures a little more than 26". She is our solid little girl. She's chubby but still within the "standard" curve as per the Dr. So no need to worry. She's happy and healthy - what more could I ask for.
She's doing well on the food front. She's pretty good at letting me know what she likes and doesn't like. And we are still doing a little of both of the purees and the BLW. She loves her cucumber!! So we are going to keep on track with it and see how it goes.

AFM, I'm actually gaining weight and I'm so disappointed. I've pulled out my old WW stuff, but I still can't seem to find the motivation. I don't know if it's because of the weather or what. You would think that I would be really motivated because it's summer...but idk...
We are going to be getting one of those attachments for the bike that looks like a mini tent/RV for kids. I can't wait for that...a lot of quiet country roads out here for that. Our neighbours' daughter is going to sell it to us for like $50. Can't wait!! But there's nothing really stopping me from getting my butt on the treadmill. Just me being lazy. And if we are going to try for baby #2 in the next 2-3 months, I have to get healthy. I have a feeling it's going to be a tough go for baby #2, and my extra weight will just make it harder. Dang this PCOS...so frustrating.

6 months old already

Our lil princess is 6 months old today and I can't say it enough, time is flying. I think back to this day 6 months ago and wow. And to see her now and all that she can do. It just blows me away. She can sit on her own now but can't pull herself into the sitting position just yet. She's not too far off though. And she is rolling and scurrying all over the place. It's crazy. I am trying different things in the way of solids to see what she likes. She's not a big fan of the pureed food, so I thought I would give baby led weaning (BLW) a try. So I mix them both. She likes to hold and munch on cucumber (with no seeds) and tonight I gave her a spear of roasted sweet potato and she loved that too. The gagging kinda freaked DH out a bit, but she's fine and so is he :)
I think I will continue to do both. I don't force anything on her. I do however try a food more than once. I would prefer her to be eating what we eat, even if I puree it instead of the jar stuff.
But I am trying out stuff in the jars first - to see if she likes it. Then I can make it myself. We also have this wonderful product out here called La Mere Poule, which is "homemade" food in individual servings. It's kept in the freezer section and some of it is even organic. So I think I may buy some of it as back up. But for now, I'll keep going with the little bits of jar and BLW.
It's still a little overwhelming trying to figure out what to give her and when, but I'm sure she will be fine.

Worries...lots of worries

AF showed her face finally, I'm on CD2. My cycle just keeps getting longer and longer and I don't know what to do or what to think about it. I'm so frustrated. I was hoping that once we decided to start working on baby #2, that it would be on our terms. That maybe this time we wouldn't have to have any help. I'm pretty down about it. Really down about it actually.
And I just can't seem to get enough sleep. I'm ALWAYS tired. And my being tired doesn't help me get going on the working out. It's such a crazy circle. I think we would like to start trying for baby #2 by August. I think that's the plan. So I've got to get my cycle under control sooner rather than later.
A family friend that I've known all my life as "Aunty" is moving from her large home to a 2 bedroom apt. She was unable to have children and her hubby passed away, so my Dad (and my bro and I) are all she really has left. And my bro is working on getting himself organized, so it will be myself and my hubby going to the south shore at least once a day on the weekend for the next few weeks to help pack and move. She needs to be out of the house by the 20th of June. My Dad also needs our help to fix up his house because it is in need of some TLC. Then we have our house to work on, it DESPERATELY needs to be painted. And of course, our cottage needs to be completely cleaned, inside and out.
And in the middle of all this, I want to have some time to do my sewing.
We'll see how this summer goes. I think it's going to go by way too fast.
But as my hubby said, just take one day at a time. I'm going to try.

LIttle update

With the summer coming up quickly, we have been working hard around the house. There's still so much to do but at least we are making progress. The jungle that was in front of the house is now tamed lol. This weekend coming, we are going to plant our veggie garden. Can't wait for that.
Princess G is now eating cereal!! We decided to start the cereal on Mother's Day. She was sleeping through the nights and then it stopped. Then her 7oz wasn't enough and she would eat between 9 and 10oz...so I decided that we would give it a try. And she loves it! We have opted for the Organic whole grain rice cereal to start. We chose organic to avoid the crap that's out there (or at least hope to!) and whole grain because it's better for her. And if she has PCOS from me, I want to try and help as much as I can to teach her how to eat properly right from the get go.
AF is supposed to show her face tomorrow. I've had some cramping and my usual, "AF is coming" headache, so I guess we will see what tomorrow brings :)
I was supposed to start working out when my DH gets home from work but so far haven't been able to. I will be starting back working on WW with a friend of mine next week. I won't be joining but I will be following and weighing in with her. I'm hoping that I can stop the weight gain and actually lose :)
Nothing else to report.

Congrats to E and her hubby R!!! And welcome baby Trent!!!

Not 1 but 2!!!

Princess has been a drool machine for the past month or so, not light drool, but HEAVY drool. DH and I thought it might be teeth coming in, but other parents said no, it's just babies. Others said, ya my kid drooled like that but the teeth didn't come in until they were 9 months old.
Then on Sunday, she all but stopped drooling and went back to sticking her tongue out all the time. We both thought this was very odd, but left it at that.
Well, while feeding my lil princess on Tuesday, I noticed something in her mouth. After trying to dab away the milky drool, I decided to put my finger in her mouth and OMG - a tooth!!
I couldn't believe it!! A tooth on her lower right side. I cried (happy, OMG she's growing so fast tears!) and called my DH to let him know. He thought it was great as well!
While I was feeding her yesterday morning, something nagged at me, a little voice said to check for more teeth (perhaps motherly instinct?!), and I did. And of course I found yet another tooth. This one is not as far out as the bottom tooth but it's out. It's on the top right side of her mouth.
I'm amazed - 2 teeth...Time is flying.

Busy busy busy

Well I'm happy this cycle is almost over. It was actually better than last month, not as much cramping. I'm not complaining at all!!
It's a good thing because this week is going to be crazy! We are having the princess baptized on Sunday. So I have a lot of cooking and planning to get done. It should be fun. It will definitely be nice to see everyone. Although, my hubby's family seems to have dropped of the face of the earth. 2 of them have replied and only 1 of the 2 are coming. The rest haven't bothered to contact us yet. My side however loves a party, so they will be there :)
We still haven't decided what we are going to buy for her as a gift. We want it to be something meaningful but can't seem to decide.

On another note, so many babies have been or are about to be born around me.
I have a new godson that was born on April 8th, his name is Carter. My hubby's cousin had her daughter on April 16th. And a friend, who is due any day now, will be having a little boy. It's incredible. We definitely want a bigger family, it's just a matter of waiting it out until we can start trying again.

YAY for AF!!

So she came on her own again this month. I'm on CD4 today.
I'm very happy about this and I just hope that it keeps up for when we are ready to start to work on baby #2. With PCOS, you just never know. My cycle was a little longer last month than it has been in a while but only by 2 days. I'm hoping it's because it was my right side that released. My left side is pretty much a 35 day cycle. I'll just have to keep tabs on everything, just so that when we are ready to try again, I will already know how things look.
It's scary to think that we will be going down that path again. The ups and downs and countless times I will have to POAS. I am sure I will also worry about how it will all affect my lil princess. With another baby while she's young means that I will be taking away my time with her. But I think that may be more of a problem for me than for her. It's such a mixed bag of emotions.
DH is also looking into other opportunities, one of which means that he would be away from us for about 6 months. That's a long time. I know it would be for the greater good (the greater good*), but it would be tough. OK, I'm getting ahead of myself here. I still have some time before we start TTC, so until then, back to basics. Just gonna monitor my cycles :)

* I can't say the line "the greater good" without repeating it because of the movie Hot Fuzz. Just thought I would fill you in so you don't think I'm too crazy!!

Addicted? Obsessed?

OK, I have to admit that I'm not sure which it is, but I definitely spend a lot of time on the internet these days just looking and searching these 2 things. What are they?
Well, the first is Etsy. I am so in love with this site!! I just want to buy everything and post all the things that I make there at the same time LOL. It's incredible. I just love craft stuff and handmade items. They are unique and usually great quality. I am so close to convincing DH to let me purchase a few things. I will try to stick to buying from those that are from Canada but it's so hard. There are so many nice things. And of course, I'm trying to pinpoint what items I would sell as well. I tend to dabble in several different things, craft wise. So it's hard to say which one is the best. Maybe once I take some pictures of what I've done, I will post them and see if I can get some feedback...
The other thing, is coupons and freebies! I LOVE it. I call companies offering free trials and coupons for new moms and just think it's great! I check out the coupon pages and try to save money. That's how it all started. Just wanted to try and save some money here and there. It's not much but it does add up very quickly. So now, I check numerous websites on a daily basis to see what's out there. To my Canadian friend who reads this, let me know if you are interested. There are quite a few for new moms out there :)

Princess stats

Forget to post Princess G's stats from Thursday's appointment.
Dr. says that she is in the high percentile for each - so yay.
Her weight - 15lbs 12oz
her length - 24.5in (although I think it may be a little longer than that - the nurse didn't stretch her out like she did last time)
and I don't remember her head circumference but it was all normal.
She's healthy and happy.

Shots, material, Milkface

Today was Princess G's 4 month shots. I went alone this time and thought that I would be a basket case. But I wasn't. And she only cried when they gave her the 2nd shot - the one that burns. After about 3 seconds, she was back to finishing her bottle. What a little trooper!
I still can't believe how fast it is going...I know I say it a lot, but it's true! It's flying WAY too fast. The stress of going back to work still sits in the back of my mind, even though I still have like 7 months to go. I just don't want to leave her with anyone. Period. I don't think I will be able to stay home full time just yet. DH is working on getting a new job, but that will take time.
I just have to be patient...which is definitely not one of my strong points. Not much I can do though.
I still haven't been to Ottawa as I had planned to pick up some material but the local store has a big sale 50% off everything. So, I bought local instead. Sale prices are more important than nice material at this point. But I picked up quite a bit to keep me happy for quite some time.
Now, I am set to make a few dresses for the little one, some blankets and bags. Oh and some aprons. It's gonna be fun!
I also wanted to go to Ottawa to check out this store called Milkface. I found them while I was doing some research on baby carriers. It is a store that is for breastfeeding but they have a great selection of carriers. They will actually let you come in and try them out. You may even take one home to try for a few days. I didn't want to buy one (or make one) and then not like it, so I'm looking forward to trying them out. With the nice weather coming, it's going to be perfect time to start. I have 3 carriers already (2 snugli and 1 baby Bjorn) and I think only 1 of them will be acceptable until I make it to Ottawa.

Nothing new to report

There's not too much going on over here. Just the daily grind!! And well of course princess G who is anything but ordinary lol. Every day she does something new and every day I'm still amazed. She is going to be 4 months old on Thursday. 4 months already!!! ARGH! It's going so fast!!
I try to get out of the house every day even if it is just for half an hour. It does us both some good. It's incredible, people stop to look at her everywhere we go. I think it's because she is looking at everyone, so she catches their eye. Her eyes are still blue for now and a nice clear blue, so they really do catch you. But it's incredible to see how when she smiles, it makes the person talking to her feel. I joked with my Dad and said that we should bottle her smile - we would make a fortune. I'm glad she's not too shy, although I'm sure that may change.
I still have not had the Princess babysat yet, I'm just not ready. It's mentioned to me often enough that we should just drop her off... but I don't want to. And why is it so important that someone babysit her? I don't understand it. DH and I didn't go out and do things before we had her, so I don't see the dire need to do it now lol.
Very excited that we found a dress for the baptism/wedding. We have the outfit DH wore but it is too small for her now, she will be almost 5 months when she's baptized. It's very simple yet nice. I was so worried that I would have to buy the cheap looking ones that they carry in our Walmerde. I'm sure they have nice ones somewhere, but for some reason our Walmerde doesn't seem to carry the nice stuff.
Not sure if I mentioned it or not, but DH and I are not on any bc and we both don't like condoms so we are playing with fire a little. And I think I am going to be worried each and every month lol.
This month, not thinking, we dtd right around the time I O. Mind you, DH was a little more careful this time around, but hey you never know. I should have known better, but my mind wasn't thinking about where I was in my cycle. I've never really had to think about it because, I've never had a regular AF. So now I have to start. My next AF is due to start the same day we got our BFP last year. How funny would that be LOL!? Ok, not funny at all.
That's the latest from our little corner!!

Feeling all over the place

I don't know why, but I just feel like I'm all over the place with no real direction. I don't know if it's because I'm not working or what. I mean I've been working since I was around 18 years old. So maybe, just maybe, that's it. I also find it hard because Grace is not on a firm schedule yet. Her naps are still here and there, not at the same time every day and for the same length of time. I want to get so much done during the day but I end up not having done half the stuff I wanted to get done.
I am working on so many things at the same time, so Im sure that doesn't help.
I'm trying to set up a cleaning schedule to tackle during each day of the week, as well as do some menu planning. Then I also want to work on our budget.
Then there's the crafts/sewing I want to do. Can't forget finishing up Grace's room. And then there's the pictures and scrapbooking that I have to get cracking on.
Baby steps...I have to remember, baby steps. Now it makes sense why I'm feeling lost LOL.
Princess G has almost turned over from her back to her belly!! She's enjoying tummy time a little more these days but still has far to go when it comes to turning from belly to back.
She'll get there when she gets there though!!
Evreyone seems to be doing better here, even Liam!! Fingers crossed that it stays that way :)

Update on the crazy household!

I thought our little princess was over the poops, but it seems to have begun again yesterday. So I'm not so sure that it is a viral infection anymore. I really don't know!! Still no fever, so I'm not gonna panic. She's still happy and smiling, so I think she's fine. It was a busy weekend full of visitors!! My MIL and FIL came for supper on Saturday and then my Dad and friend came by yesterday. My Aunt also dropped in on her way back to TO. She hadn't seen princess G yet, so she was very happy to see her. She bought her the cutest friggen outfits.
They are by a brand called Joe Fresh and are sold at Loblaws. Really nice stuff. I so have to find a location that I can buy that stuff in.
So I am off to try and get princess back to sleep. She woke up to poop and is now having a tough time going back to sleep.

Oh so stressed

It's happening all at once and I really don't like it.
After dealing with lots of poop since Saturday, I took the princess to see the pedi and the pedi seems to think that she has a viral infection that we just have to let run its course. So we are stuck dealing with the several poops a day and at all hours. Definitely not fun, especially since I have gotten used to sleeping for 6 hours at a stretch.
But to top things off, my 7 yr old cat is sick. He hasn't had anything to eat or drink since Tuesday. I took him to the vet today and had blood work and x-rays done to see what it was. His blood work came back fine. The xrays just helped to eliminate a lot of possibilities. So the vet has it narrowed down to an upset stomach from stress or something he ate. Or it could be pancreatitis. So we are giving him the generic brand of pepcid ac to help if it is an upset stomach and a pain reliever if it is the pancreatitis. He also was given an IV for fluids as he was slightly dehydrated. So, he's home now but still hasn't had anything to eat or drink and has not been to the kitty litter. The vet is supposed to call tomorrow to see if anything has changed.
He's definitely not himself at all. I'm really worried and stressed. I don't do well with loss at all and it is killing me to think that I might lose him. Some people may say that it's just a cat, but my pets are family members. So I feel like such crap right now. I really hate this.

A little bit of everything

With the weather becoming more like spring, I'm getting the bug to do so much!!
Princess had a flu bug, we think. She was a pooping machine 1/2 of Sat, Sunday and 1/2 of Monday. We'll see what today brings. I think she caught this when I went to my MIL's sister's place. There were sick people there. Even though I wasn't going to go because of said sick people, I was assured they would not be there. But of course, they were. I'm still pissed about it. I went against my better judgement to please other people. Let me tell you, that's the end of that. I know that people judge me because I"m sure they think that I'm too protective or overbearing, but you know what...tough!! I'm the mommy. Ok - enough about that.
I'm still sewing. I made a bib that took like less than an hour. It looks great!! I just need some NICE material. There are 2 places to buy material where I live - 1 is Wallymart and the other a sewing store. Neither one has nice material that is "in style". It's kind of old granny-ish, which makes sense since there are a lot of quilters of a certain age bracket where i live. I'm going to have to go for a drive really soon to either MTL or OTT. I need some nice material. I think Denis is actually impressed with what I have done so far. Maybe when I've done a few more things, I will take some pictures.
Oh and speaking of pictures, I am sending them out today! So look for one in the mail real soon!! I still haven't scanned any of the pics in yet - but I will harass Denis to do it.
One last thing - I'm going to be trying a new slow cooker recipe this week. It's actually from Martha Stewart's Every day Food magazine. It's called Indian braised chicken. If it's tasty, I will post it.
That's about it for now :)

Would love to be a SAHM

Everything is fine with princess G. She is doing well. We had her weighed and measured yesterday at the Early Years Centre (EYC) and she is 14lbs 11oz (95th percentile - poor thing has my genetics) and 24" long (75th percentile). I ended up sitting and chatting for a bit at the EYC with adults. It was nice. There were other moms there, but they left as we were coming in. It's a really neat place and I think it will be wonderful once she's able to sit up on her own and play a bit more.
I'm getting used to not working. Really used to it. I didn't think that I would be able to relax and enjoy it since I've been working since I was 17 without more than a 2 week holiday but no trouble here!! I'm actually trying to think of ways on how we can work it out for me to stay home. We have been talking about it seriously. So many things to consider though. I think we are going to try and sit with a financial counselor to figure out how we can help ourselves and benefits that may be available.
I'm trying to think of ways to make a little extra $$ - part time job or odd jobs here and there. Maybe even babysitting (daycare) but only 1 or 2 other kiddies. I'm concentrating on my sewing right now. So far I've made a reversible flannel blanket for Grace with an Elmo print. Too cute!!
But if I can get better, then maybe do some sewing work. And of course, I should really get back into my catering. I used to do pretty well with it. I stopped because most of my jobs were about 90 mins from my place, so I would end up spending more on gas. But I will try to promote myself around here. I have her baptism at the end of April, so that will be my testing ground to see if I still have "it".
I think that being a SAHM is something that I will be working towards. I guess being a child from a SAHM home, I loved it and want to give that to my children.

Biggest scare EVER!!!

I don't think I have ever been this scared in my life - EVER.
After giving Grace her bath, I was going through our normal routine of putting on some baby lotion when she started flailing. Her arms and legs were going a mile a minute. I thought it was because the cream was cold and she was reacting to it. Then I saw the look of panic in her eyes - she wasn't breathing. OMG!!! She was in my arms in 2 seconds and Denis was down the stairs with us 2 seconds later. Just as he got there, she threw up. She's been OK ever since but let me tell you, it's going to be tough to sleep tonight. She's sleeping right now, but on an incline in her bouncy chair. It's going to be a very long night.
That is the scariest thing I have ever experienced. The look on her face, I couldn't help but just cry as I was holding her after. Denis told me to pull it together because it was affecting her. And he was right. Once I was calm, she was calm.
I can't believe there are going to be more of these times to come.
Talk about stressed...

She's here, she made it!

I'm glad AF is here. She arrived Monday morning. I would have been very happy if she didn't show and we were preggers. And I'm happy she's here as well. At least it means that my system is still working as it should.
So, I have to keep up with the vitamins and weight loss.
Hopefully, this will keep me regular and when it comes time to work on TTC again, we won't have the same issues as before.

A little worried - but I shouldn't be...should I?

My Dr had told me to start working on baby # 2 about 4-6 months after DD was born. I did have a regular AF at the beginning of Feb and I thought, yay, a normal period!! Because of the PCOS, I don't have regular AFs. Well, things got a little out of hand recently with DH and oops. Now because of the PCOS and no regular AF, I have no real way of knowing when I O'd. I was able to figure it out when we conceived DD because I was being monitored and was having a regular AF at the time of about 35 days. All this to say that I am now waiting for AF to show. Not too long ago, I dreaded when she made her appearance because it meant that another month was a bust on the TTC train. Funny how that is!!!
I'll be honest though, I'm a little nervous at any possibility of being preggers at this point. DH says it will be fine either way, we'll get through it. I know we would, but it would be crazy!
I'm still trying to wrap my head around starting to try again in a few months for another baby!! DD would be under 2 when the next baby arrives - if I'm not broken again. And of course, I worry about taking her time with me away from her. And putting focus on a new baby. It's all just so crazy!!
I'm getting ahead of myself here. I'll just take it one day at a time and focus on AF showing up any day now...any day now.

Spoiled and a little Martha!!

OK I'm not actually talking about Grace but myself. We had 3 days, or should I say nights, of straight sleep. It was wonderful!! I thought - wow, 3 months and sleeps through the night. Right on schedule. Silly me for jinxing myself!! Grace woke us both up this morning at 3am.
This was really tough for me because she just went down at 10:30pm.
She was hungry. And when she got up again, she ate her full bottle and I had to make another.
So we are thinking it may actually be her 3 month growth spurt. I guess we will see what tonight brings.
As for me, I have set up my sewing area and am ready to get cracking. I just have to remember what I learned 2.5 years ago lol. I have quite a few projects that I would love to tackle ASAP!!
I am also excited to start the scrapbooking as well. So much to do and no time at all!!
Oh and of course I can't forget, I am putting together a cookbook of family recipes and other tried and true recipes that I love and feel I need to share. My original plan was to have them for this Christmas as gifts, but not so sure I will succeed with all the other projects I plan on doing :)

Daycare...ya right!

Even though Grace is only 3 months old (already!?!), I have already started snooping around locally for daycares. There are very few "official" daycares. They charge about $140/week and only take them when they are 18 months. Odd since the Govt only gives us 52 weeks!!!
But the kicker is that they close for July and August. So what does someone do at the point? Doesn't make any sense to me at all.
So my only other option is to put my child into someone's private home. The thought of this scares me to death. It would be better if I could work from home and have someone come to our house and take care of the baby here.
Of course the best solution would be for me to become a SAHM but it's not an option just yet. We are working on it though.
I really don't know what we are going to do...
I'll wait a little longer before I panic though lol

Pictures are incredible!!

I am so happy with the pictures we chose. They turned out great!!
I still have to scan them, but Denis knows how to use the printer/scanner, so he will hopefully help me out on the weekend. It would have been a heck of a lot easier if we had of just taken the CD with them, but $40 for a CD was a bit much for us to swallow. Just a little overpriced.
Now I just have to get my act together and send out pics by mail!!
I'm really bad for things like that...I still have some Thank yous to send out. They are ready to go and everything, just sitting by the door.
I will get cracking on sorting out and sending the pictures. It's going to be hard to decide which ones to give to who.

Yet another project I would like to tackle

I've decided that I want to sew. DH and I took a course in 2006 but the teacher wasn't very good and I walked away not knowing much at all. I have my Mom's sewing machine and we had it tuned up, so it is ready to go. But since the course, I haven't really found the time.
I really like the idea of making clothes for my DD, in the colour and style that I want. Not having to settle for what's out there on the rack.
It's time to blow the dust off the machine and get cracking!!
When I do make something somewhat presentable, I will definitely take a picture and post it.
It won't be anytime soon though LOL.

This, that and the other thing

There is so much going on in my head these days.
We are working on finalizing when we will have the baptism. And of course the party that goes along with it! Denis and I were brought up differently when it comes to things like this. His family keep everything to just immediate family and very quiet. I, on the other hand, come from a family that celebrates everything together!! And seeing how my relatives have already asked about it, we are having a big gathering. My family is so big that we may have to rent a hall!! Luckily there is one right behind the church. I also have to think about picking up baptism invitations and send those out.
Tomorrow is picture pick up day!! Can't wait!! I will definitely scan them so I can send them out. Then I have to buy some cards so that I can send around some originals. Hard to find out my way, there isn't too much in the way of stores.
I want to put together a brag book for both my Dad and MIL. So I have to have some pics printed off and of course I want to start working on her scrapbook...
And I've had a few sad moments as of late, which I know I shouldn't what with all the happiness in my life at the moment. But I just can't help but think of how much I miss my Mom. She would have loved being a part of this. And I also miss being able to talk to her about stuff. My MIL is very sweet and easy to talk to but it's not the same. I really do think about her and miss her a lot these days. And I guess it doesn't help that none of my extended family or friends, that live about an hour away, have even bothered to come out for a visit. Then I get the guilt trip from my Nan because I am not picking one of my Mom's sisters to be a godmother...they haven't even called to see how Grace is doing!!!
And to boot, Denis has found out that he is now working weekends...so he works this weekend - both days and then works again March 28th and 29th. So trying to plan the baptism has now become even more complicated because we haven't found out his schedule for April.
OK, I feel much better now that it is out of my head!
Sorry for going on and on...and of course for being all over the place! Like I said, there's a lot going on in my head lol

Did a little cooking today

I was so tired this morning when Grace and I got up, but after a little nap, I had the urge to cook.
It has been a while since I've really felt like it.
So, I made a salsa chip dip, broccoli salad and finally a rice dish. The broccoli salad is a recipe from Denis' family but the rice, I made it up. Although, I'm sure it's not an original recipe or anything but I had an idea in my head and ran with it! I substituted the water with the liquid from a can of diced tomatoes and the rest with chicken broth. Cooked the rice as I normally would. In the meantime, I chopped up some red, green and orange peppers along with some mushrooms. Sauteed them and added the remaining can of diced tomatoes. Cooked it on high to reduce the liquid, then added the cooked rice. It was very tasty! So much so, that I decided to change what was going to be for supper. Denis doesn't know it yet but he is BBQ'ing some pork chops!! The 2 paired together along with a nice salad will be great!

Growing like a weed

Lately, Grace has been fussy and not sleeping all that much during the day. She also has been eating a little here and there. Denis called me down yesterday morning and asked what I thought might be wrong. She was crying to eat, he would give her the bottle and then a few mins later, start turning her head from side to side. The nipple flow was not happening. And when I would unclog it, it barely came out. It was then that we decided to take out the fast flow nipples.
According to the manufacturer, the fast flow are for 6 months and older. Well, our little princess loves them. With the slow nipples, it would take anywhere from 30-45min to feed her a 5-6oz bottle. With the fast flow, it takes anywhere from 5-15min. What a difference. She's a little messy with the bottle because she is still getting used to the flow, but she is very happy. She's been sleeping a little better during the day today and I think it's because she's actually filling up her belly!! The night time feed last night was a challenge because she isn't awake enough to eat that fast but when I switched to the slow, she let me know she didn't like it :)
So we'll see how it goes. She is still waking up around 2-2:30am, but I think that it's a habit now instead of hunger. I'm hoping that she will grow out of this. I am also going to try and cluster feed at night - see if that does anything. It'll be tough because I am usually in bed about 30 min after she is, around 8:30pm.
I'm hoping that Grace will be one of those textbook babies that will sleep through the night by 3 months. I'm not holding my breath though!!

The story of a little girl who doesn't want to sleep

It's incredible. My DD doesn't want to sleep during the day. She takes these catnaps for about 30-40 mins here and there during the day, but that's it. And she's not a cranky baby. She does sleep about 6-7 hours straight at night. And then goes back down for another 3 hours. Maybe she doesn't need more than that!
Well, I purchased another book by the Baby Whisperer. I tried the original book, but maybe I still have baby brain but none of the information wants to sink in. I don't know if it's how the book is laid out that just doesn't work for me or what. But I'm trying a different one. More like a question and answer layout. So far so good.
I really can't complain, she is sitting beside me chatting up a storm. Like I said, she's not really a cranky baby...she does have her moments though! I won't lie.
I guess we'll see what happens once I have a moment to read the darn book lol!

Picture day was a success

Forgot to mention how picture day went. I didn't know what to expect or how they were going to pose her. I was really impressed with the woman who did the pictures. She was able to get Grace to smile in every pose. And the pictures turned out SO NICE! We ended up taking a package so that we could get all the pictures. She is just so darned cute! They really did a nice job. We get the pictures on the 25th of Feb. Can't wait!!!

Simple but very good cake

If you are ever looking for a very quick and simple cake, here's one that I picked up from my hubby's aunt.
Simple chocolate cake mix that you can buy in the store. Make it as 2 round cakes.
Make some chocolate pudding. Chop up some Skor chocolate bars so that they are in little bits.
Mix a few of the bits in with the chocolate pudding once it has set. Place one of the cakes on a platter. Spread chocolate pudding on cake. Place the other cake on top.
For icing, mix some dream whip/cool whip with a brick of softened cream cheese. You can add a little icing sugar to sweeten it up. Spread it all over the cake and sprinkle the remaining pieces of Skor bar on top. You could easily change things around to your taste. Very simple but tastes amazing. Of course - not for those watching what they eat :)
I'm going to try using whip cream only as "icing" this time. We'll see how it goes!
Enjoy!

Going to be honest

I still haven't done anything to help lose this baby weight. I thought I would be right back on track but 2 months later and I still haven't got the OOMPH to get back on the right track. I know that I have to get moving and exercising. I still can't sleep on my stomach or back because when I do, I can't move. My back kills, so much so that I really can't move. That pretty much means that I have no abs!! And as for the healthy recipes, not interested. Right now, I just have to make sure that I eat. It's easy to miss a meal.
I'm not going to beat myself up about it though, I just have to make sure to keep the healthy thoughts going. I hope to be going healthy soon though!
I really don't have any clothes that fit at this time. So that is really frustrating. The clothes are either too big or too small. And I refuse to buy any because it would be a waste of money. I have 15lbs to lose to be at my pre-pregnancy weight. I know I can do it...I just need the right push! I have the treadmill and all the equipment to work out at home, so there's really no excuse, except I'm still tired.
Maybe writing this post will be enough to push me to start!!! We'll see.

Picture day!!

We are taking Grace to have her picture taken today. It's 5.99 at Wallymart (or Walmerde - whichever works for you!) for 30 poses. So I figured why not! I would have liked to have her picture taken with a professional but DH doesn't want to spend $100 for 1 picture. I agree, it is a little crazy. But I did want to have someone else take her picture. So we are going today. I'm hoping that it goes OK because our little princess has been very fussy for the last few days. I'm not sure if it is a growth spurt, gas or if she's sick. She doesn't want to nap at all during the day. We're lucky if we get her to nap for 45 min. We'll see how today goes.
Gotta find the perfect little outfit...which one will it be!!
We don't really have anything that's frilly and fru-fru for her, so I'm not sure what to put her in. There is this nice brown dress with different pinks on it. That may be one of 2 choices. We actually don't have that many dresses for her either LOL. I guess we're waiting for summer to buy dresses. And this sizing thing is just all over the place!! I have no idea what sizes she is going to wear in the coming months. So if I find some nice summer stuff, I will have to buy it in 2 different sizes, just to be sure.

2 months already!

It's hard to believe, but our little girl is 2 months old already. She had her shots yesterday and a weigh in. Grace now weighs about 12lbs and measures 23 inches. The doctor said that her weight gain is excellent and her growth is good. The doctor checked her over and Grace was not happy at all. Don't think I have ever seen her this upset when food was not involved. Once we were able to calm her down, the shots were administered. There were 2 shots total. The first one was fine - she didn't even flinch. The DR warned us that the 2nd one burns when it is given. And of course, Grace cried for a few seconds and then was fine. We gave her a bottle during the shots to try and keep her comforted - seems to have worked. Once we left the office, she fell asleep and slept for about 4 1/2 hours. I woke her up to feed her. She seemed fine, only her leg was a little red. I did give her some tempra and she followed her normal routine.
The only thing I'm not happy about these days is that Grace doesn't get enough naps in. So, I am going to go back and read my Baby Whisperer to see if I can improve on her sleep. Apparantly, napping during the day can actually help a baby sleep better at night. Who knows, maybe Grace would be sleeping her nights if we had better naps during the day!!!

Pesto Pasta - recipe to share

Just wanted to share this recipe, if you can call it that.
It is something that I ate at a wonderful cafe near my work. They have the BEST food ever. It is a little Italian place and no matter what you take - it's out of this world!
You decide on how much of everything you use and what veggies to incorporate, I'll just share the basics.
Italian sausage cut up into small bite size pieces, pasta (fusilli or rotini - something to "catch" the pesto), veggies. That's it.
I cook everything seperately so as not to overcook anything and then mix it together. I use peppers, mushrooms and onions. Once in season, I will also use asparagus. And I would also love to use artichokes. You could even throw in some black olives.
It is really tasty. DH loves it and wants me to make it every week!
I'm sure I'll be making this on the weekend :)

Another day...

My daughter slept her nights for 3 days. But the last 2 she has gotten up once. I can't really complain but those 3 days were amazing. I felt great and was actually getting stuff done around the house. And she was a much more pleasant baby. However, since Friday, she has been fighting her sleep again and fussing. I'm hoping that it's just because we were off her routine being out doing groceries or visiting relatives. I guess we will see what this week brings. She is smiling so much now and not only to us! It's so great to see. She has also started "chatting" with us and copying our facial expressions. It is so incredible to see her studying everything and looking at her surroundings. It's going by so fast!!

It was a good night...

So my little girl fell asleep at 6:30/7 last night and didn't wake up until 3:30am. WOW!
I didn't get to bed until 9pm but I did get 6.5 hours sleep. Incredible. And she may have slept longer but she had a wet sleeper. I'm hoping this new formula is the reason and she will sleep like that again. Fingers crossed!!
She ate at 4:45pm and didn't eat again until almost 3:45am. I hope this is not a fluke.
Mind you, she's still awake now and no signs of being sleepy at all LOL

Fussy and gassy

So DH and I have contacted the Pedi because we think DD is way too gassy and fussy than she should be. She falls asleep for 15-20 min and then wakes herself up. This goes on all day. Then by 6pm, she passes out because she is just so exhausted. We will start this new formula tonight as suggested by the Pedi and hopefully we will see a change in our princess. She usually is only really fussy from around noon until 6pm. But her stomach gurgles after each feeding. So loud that I can actually feel her pain.
I'm sure there are others out there that deal with severly cranky babies and I do count my blessings as she is pretty much an easy baby. She just fusses a lot and refuses to sleep.
So here's hoping she will feel better soon.

Working on fixing me

I knew years ago that there was something wrong with my body, something just wasn't right. When I did go and see a Dr about it, her response to me was buy a house or adopt a child. I just about cried when she said that. So I went on dealing with the "something is off" feeling. When my DH and I decided to start working on a family and stopped the bcp, that's when it really came to light. I was finally diagnosed in Aug 2006 with PCOS. However, I didn't really have time to work on the PCOS, everything was about getting pregnant. When we finally got pregnant, then I concentrated on that. Now that we are not currently TTC, I am going to be working on the PCOS. I have started back on the Metformin and Omega 3-6-9. I am also starting to watch what I eat. The next thing to tackle will be the exercise. I'm hoping that once DD starts sleeping a little more, I will have the energy to do so. It will be nice to get this PCOS under control. I would like to have the dark skin patches go away and the mood swings disappear. I will continue to do my homework and read up on it and see how else I can change things. I already know that I have to eliminate most prepared foods from my diet as some of the contents affect my hormones which need to be kept level.
So this will be my new focus...of course aside from my adorable baby girl!

35...wow!

So today is my birthday and I am 35. In the past, the changing year would freak me out because I had a plan. And I was nowhere close to the plan. With the TTC problems, I didn't know if I would ever get anywhere close to where I wanted to be but this year is different. And I'm so happy about that! I am still a little upset that the number is climbing higher and higher but I have more important things to focus on.
I went to my 6 week appointment and all is fine. The incision is still healing on the inside but the outside looks fine. The Dr mentioned that if we wanted more kids that we should get on that ASAP. He said to let my body heal for about 4-6 months and then go again. I also asked when did he think age would become an issue. He said to try to have all the babies done by 35-38 years old. I laughed and said I'm 35 today!!! LOL. So 38 it is! I also asked him if we could work something out so that the next pregnancy was going to be twins. Ha ha!

6 weeks already

I already have my 6 week appointment on Tuesday. I can't believe how fast time is going.
I am looking forward to the follow up. I have a few questions for my DR.
I want to know when I can start taking Met again. It definitely helped reduce some of my symptoms in the past.
TMI coming - reader beware!!
I also have questions about my C-section - pains and bleeding.
I took a bath with my DD a few days ago, 2 inches of water max, and about an hour later, I started bleeding. The bleeding lasted about 2 1/2 days and then done. Not sure what it was, but would like to know if the Dr has anything to say about it. I also want to know when we should start trying to conceive again. I mean we aren't ready just yet, but considering my age and the difficulties we had the first time around, I don't want to wait TOO long.
And of course, DH is anxious to get the all clear just to be able to have some fun!
I'm not looking forward to stepping on the scale. I really have to get working on that. Maybe with the all clear I will be able to start back on the treadmill.
I guess we will see!!

Trying to get on track

I am working towards getting back on track with WW and eating healthy. It's not that easy right now though since I don't have the time to plan and cook along with taking care of DD. I also wanted to get back on the treadmill. But because of the C-section, I want to wait until I get the all clear. I don't think I will be able to do sit ups or anything that strictly uses my abs anytime soon since it still feels like my insides are being ripped open when I try to use them. But I think the treadmill will help.
I am anxious to start cooking again. I really am but at the same time, I don't want to because I am just too tired.
Maybe another few weeks and I will be back on the wagon!!
I am also trying a new layout for the blog - thought it was time for a change.
DD is so alert these days - its amazing. She reacts to our voices, smiles and coos. It's awesome.

Growing so fast!

I can't believe how fast she is growing. We had our first official smile on Tuesday. Not a "I've got gas" smile or a "I'm falling asleep and dreaming" smile, but an honest smile. I went out for the first time since she was born without her. When I came back and spoke to her, she turned and smiled at me. What an incredible feeling!
My body is used to the lack of sleep and I'm not so grumpy anymore. I mean I do have my moments but I think all in all, I'm better. She is awake more during the day which is fun. And then she will sleep a stretch of about 5-6 hours. The only trouble is that she sleeps this stretch from about 5-6pm until midnight. I'm not complaining, don't get me wrong, but we will eventually try to fix it and have her sleep 12am to 6am. We'll see how it goes.
My DH hurt his ankle today at work. He slipped on some ice that was hidden beneath the snow. So he came home at lunch and we are going to the Dr. tomorrow to see when he should go back. So that changes things a little. If he is off work for a while, then that puts both of us at 55% of our salary. Definitely a challenge.
I will also be going to the Early Years centre close to us tomorrow. There are nurses there that we can visit with and they will measure and weigh your baby and answer any questions that a parent may have. It is also a place where the kids can play together and the parents can chat. It will be fun once my DD is a little older.
I'm anxious to see how much our little monster weighs!!
